Managing Director

The Managing Director is a key leadership role responsible for advancing the strategic vision, operational excellence, and sustainable growth of The Who We Are Project. Reporting to the CEO, they will develop and implement strategies to expand the organization’s reach, oversee daily operations, and establish a strong financial and operational foundation to support its mission.

As a champion of The Who We Are Project’s mission, the Managing Director will lead and support a team in designing and executing new programs, strengthening organizational systems, diversifying revenue sources, and producing editorial content. They will also cultivate strategic partnerships and inspire both internal and external stakeholders.

This is a unique opportunity to shape and lead a start-up nonprofit dedicated to challenging systemic racism, advancing racial equity, and educating the public through compelling media and truth-based historical storytelling. The ideal candidate is a visionary and entrepreneurial leader with a deep commitment to racial justice, strong organizational management experience, and a talent for fostering collaboration and innovation.

The role will include travel to key events, partnerships, and program locations to support the organization's growth and outreach efforts.

Program Director

The Who We Are Project is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Program Director to join our growing team, reporting to the Managing Director. This key position will lead the development of educational programs, curriculum, and a technology platform to support our mission of exposing the legacy of anti-Black racism. This role will involve developing customized content, building strategic partnerships, and expanding program reach through innovative learning experiences and digital solutions. The Program Director will also drive sustainability efforts and support the organization’s growth.

The role will include travel and offers a unique opportunity to shape a start-up nonprofit dedicated to racial justice and education.
