Our Mission

Mission

The Who We Are Project is committed to educating every person in the United States on the truth of anti-Black racism in our history by researching and exposing long-hidden or ignored historical documents, cultivating citizen historians, producing educational content, and facilitating and modeling lifelong learning.

Vision

The Who We Are Project (“TWWAP”) envisions a time when true and accurate U.S. history is endemic not just throughout the U.S. but around the world.

We believe a reckoning with the true and complete history of anti-Black racism in the nation’s past and present is the first step to racial restoration and equity.

Towards this vision, TWWAP aims to be a fundamental resource for exposing truths about our history that have long been hidden and distorted. This space is a dynamic and active space for growth, documentation, sharing and telling our nation’s stories.

Our Team and Partners

Our team is a small but mighty group of dedicated individuals working to change the narrative of U.S. history.

Additionally, The Who We Are Project is dedicated to uplifting the voices of our partners, an inspiring group of committed individuals working as politicians, authors, speakers, historians, and more.
